Please read this description carefully and completely to avoid woe.
There is nothing at the posted coordinates. This multi celebrates the opening of the new stretch of the Metro A Line between Glendora and Pomona in September 2025. Your quest can be started at either end, and requires you to visit the four new stations, admire the stations' public art, collect clues to put into Certitude below to get the final coords to an actual cache container, which is on the Pomona side of things.
Use each stage's waypoint shown below to guide you to where your specific, targeted piece of art is on, or near, each Metro station. THERE IS A GLENDORA WAYPOINT BELOW, DIFFERENT THAN THE POSTED COORDINATES. Visit it before continuing on to San Dimas.
At most of these stations, time permitting, you can also step off and snag a physical Sidetracked cache close by. Trains come every 8-10 minutes during peak hours, so use your own discretion if you are deciding between whether there's enough time to grab the art clue or the cache.
You can visit these stations by car, of course, but if you are riding the A line you will need to buy a Metro TAP card at the machine on the platform, or get the phone app beforehand and load it up.
Once you have collected your four clues, enter them into Certitude (at the bottom of this page) as one single lowercase word with no spaces and no commas.
~ ABOUT THE GLENDORA STATION ART ~
Artist's Statement:
“The title for the Glendora Station is Glendora Home: A Slice of Sunshine. This phrase references the citrus groves and a slogan used by the traditional Glendora Citrus packing houses. The artworks for the station focus on the flora of the natural environment and are created using traditional tile making techniques, cuerda seca, mosaics, and cement sculptures.”
--Michael Hillman, Professor of Art, Citrus College, Glendora
Project Description:
Glendora Home: A Slice of Sunshine refers to the history of Glendora and its role in the citrus industry. Incorporated into the title is “Glendora Home,” a brand of citrus that was grown in the area for generations, and the company’s slogan “A Slice of Sunshine.” Four large-scale oval columns are located on the platform and two at each of the station entry plazas. The columns are embellished with glass tiles in brilliant colors. Themes depicted include citrus, the foothills, water, irrigation, the bougainvillea plant, and the local brodiaea filifolia flower. Carvings of citrus are found at the top of each column. The canopy bases feature hand glazed ceramic tile laid out in one of three patterns: pinwheel, tessellation, and drop & slide.
