What is International Geocaching Day?
Since the 2011 Geocaching Block Party, geocachers around the world have come together on the third Saturday of each August to celebrate International Geocaching Day. This unique holiday is one of the many quirks that make the global geocaching community so special.
In 2025, International Geocaching Day will be celebrated on August 16th. On this day, geocachers from across the globe unite to enjoy outdoor adventures, solve puzzles, and discover hidden treasures using GPS coordinates.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for both experienced enthusiasts and newcomers to connect with nature, explore new places, and enjoy the thrill of the hunt.
A Bit of History...
The first International Geocaching Day was held in 2011. Since then, it has grown into more than just a day of geocache hunting - it’s a time for geocachers to connect, socialize, and strengthen community ties.
Celebrated annually on the third Saturday in August, International Geocaching Day brings together adventure seekers, puzzle solvers, and outdoor lovers of all ages. Geocaching - a modern-day treasure hunt using GPS - takes the spotlight as participants embark on quests to find hidden caches all over the world.
This day promotes exploration, teamwork, and the joy of discovery, helping to build a strong sense of connection among geocachers. Whether you're in an urban area or out in the wilderness, International Geocaching Day is a unique opportunity to engage your curiosity, solve challenges, and make lasting memories.
