The Municipality of Nashwaak is home to Durham Bridge, Situated just north of Fredericton, it is one of those crossings that’s seen it all—horse-drawn buggies, Model Ts, and now the occasional minivan blasting '90s pop. Spanning the Nashwaak River, the bridge has gone through several incarnations since the area was first settled in the early 1800s. The current steel bridge, built in the mid-20th century, may not win any beauty contests, but it gets the job done—like a reliable uncle in coveralls. Locals have long used it as a shortcut, a fishing spot, and occasionally a place to pause and admire the view (usually when there’s a slow tractor ahead). Durham Bridge might not be famous, but in New Brunswick fashion, it quietly holds things together—and does it without making a fuss.
