Why elder bashing ?
Elder is not good for a mixed hedge due its aggressive growth and ability to outcompete other plants, potentially creating gaps and uneven growth. It also tends to grow leggy very fast and thus the cover for wildlife at the foot of the hedge is very poor.
The community has already tackled the bramble growth ( although that seems to have thrived again despite the lack of rain) and now we need to tackle the elder.
Time 1430 to 1530 on Tuesday 12th August 2025 followed by the usual tea and homemade cake .
