Geocache Description:

A Jigidi for...CardiniaCardinia is a small town within the Shire of Cardinia, a municpality that include outer eastern suburbs of Pakenham and Officer and many smaller towns and localities where the suburban sprawl hasn't quite spread far beyond the railway corridor and Princes Highway and Freeway towards Gippsland.

The name "Cardinia" is derived from an Aboriginal expression, "karr-din-yarr," meaning "look towards the rising sun," according to Victorian Places and Connected Libraries.

Permanent European settlement began in the 1830s, with early uses including grazing, fishing, and farming.
In the 1850s, the area was subdivided after being used as cattle runs.
The first school, initially named Pakenham South, was established in 1874.
Originally known as South Pakenham, the area transitioned through several name changes, including Cardinia Creek, before settling on Cardinia.
The current primary industry is asparagus farming and beef cattle.

The container has been recycled from a previous, archived cache.
