Von der Freiberger Höhe hat man eine schöne Aussicht auf das Dörfchen Freiberg, das heute ein Ortsteil von Adorf ist. Früher war hier einmal im Jahr richtig was los! Immer am 30. April fand das traditionelle Adorfer Höhenfeuer hier oben statt. Der Holzhaufen wuchs schon immer in den Wochen vor dem Feuer beträchtlich an, sodass das Feuer am Ende mitunter oft mehr breit als hoch war. Aber ein riesiges Feuer war es! Und wenn dann ringsum auch auf den anderen Höhen die Flammen zu sehen waren, war das schon ein toller Anblick. Mit der Zeit wurde leider zunehmend mehr Müll abgeladen, der nicht auf den Holzhaufen gehörte – oder man wurde einfach strenger, das kann auch sein. Jedenfalls endete die Zeit des Höhenfeuers auf der Freiberger Höhe irgendwann Ende der 2000er Jahre. Seitdem wird das traditionelle Höhenfeuern an der Adorfer Feuerwehr abgehalten. Verständlich, aber leider nicht dasselbe. Die alte Bude, aus der immer verkauft wurde, steht noch. Und vielleicht gibt’s hier ja noch irgendwas zu holen?

From the Freiberger Höhe, you have a beautiful view of the small village of Freiberg, which is now a district of Adorf. There used to be a lot going on here once a year! The traditional Adorf bonfire always took place up here on April 30th. The pile of wood always grew considerably in the weeks before the bonfire, so that the fire was often wider than it was tall. But it was a huge bonfire! And when the flames could be seen all around on the other hills, it was quite a sight. Unfortunately, over time, more and more trash was dumped that didn't belong on the pile of wood – or people simply became stricter, that could also be the case. In any case, the era of the bonfire on the Freiberger Höhe ended sometime in the late 2000s. Since then, the traditional bonfire has been held at the Adorf fire department. Understandable, but unfortunately not the same. The old shack where the sales always took place is still there. And maybe there's still something to be had here?
