Geocache Description:

Waterloo Farm Museum is an absolutely fascinating and incredibly well maintained display of life many, many years ago.  The homes and buildings are historical and are a lesson in life in the distant past. They knew none of our modern day conveniences, but were successful at finding ways to complete tasks with work animals, outhouses and manual labor.  They raised farm animals for the food they could provide, as well as using the wool to create warmth for those cold winters nights, and many garden vegetables shared around the dinner table.

There were no furnaces with a thermostat, but used the wood they chopped by hand to heat their homes and wool to make warm clothing.

The work was hard and everyone pitched in to make the home work and to keep the table filled with food and the laughter of true human interactions.

Can you recall the last time the entire family at your home actually held a real connection with each of your loved ones?

No cell phones, nearest neighbor sometimes miles away, horse and buggy for transportation, as well as the manual labor needed by each and everyone in the family.  Nothing like the dinner tables of today with the constant distractions of tv, radio, doorbells and traveling salesmen with their latest "one time offers".

Simpler times, held together by a family bond of "everyone has a job to do".    Life on the farm in the 1800's was hard and exhausting.

The Museum is an historical group of the original buildings in perfect shape and run by volunteers who treasure the opportunity to bring the past to life.   Walk the property and ponder the amount of work it would have taken to imagine how these buildings came to be without any of our power tools, technology and architectural renderings by an expert in the field.

The Waterloo historical Society features a preserved 19th Century farmstead that showcase the region's agricultural heritage.  There is the original farmhouse with period furnishings and artifacts plus outbuildings like a bakehouse, log house, icehouse, windmill and barns that  showcase self-sufficient farming in the 1800's.

The cache itself is a handbuilt "barn" very near the coords and stuffed with lots of swag.  Cache is placed with permission by the Farm museum board.

The cache itself , a beautiful red barn was built by hand by one of our own....Dan the Man and his lovely wife.  Please handle with care.  I believe that you will know it when you see it.   The gift shop is open on Saturdays only til August 23rd from 10am to 4pm.
