Welcome to the Monuments & Multis Series — M&M Series

The Island has numerous small monuments & plaques commemorating oft forgotten people, places & events that played a role in the history of the Island. Most such commemorative reminders, if noticed at all, are usually driven by without stopping or reading. This series hopes to highlight the Island’s past through a number of quick, 2-stage multi caches that require visiting & reading such plaques.

Strathgartney Provincial Park, Trans Canada Highway 1, Bonshaw, Prince Edward Island In the 1860s, Robert Bruce Stewart developed Strathgartney Homestead, west of this provincial park, as the centrepiece of his XX,000-acre estate worked by tenant farmers. He acquired part of the estate from his father, one of the absentee landowners who owned much of the Island. The homestead represented the inequity of the leasehold system that ended when the Land Purchase Act of 1875 forced owners of large estates to sell them to the government, which in turn resold them in small freeholds. Epekwitk (PEI) is traditional Mi’kmaw territory, yet no land was reserved for them when the Island was opened to British settlement in 17YY

Add "XX" and "YY" together to get "Z" and use “Z” in the following equation to obtain the nearby final cache coordinates:

N46 12.(Z + 727) W063 20.(Z + 39)
Checksum: N=28, W=22
