Sērene ir viens no tiem klusajiem Sēlijas nostūriem, kur vēl joprojām jūtama vēstures elpa. Ap 18.–19. gadsimtu šeit darbojās Vecsērenes muiža – savulaik svarīgs vietējās dzīves un saimniecības centrs. Vēlāk, 20. gadsimta sākumā, cauri pagastam gāja dzelzceļš, un arī vilciens te piestāja — maršrutā uz Jaunjelgavu.
Mūsdienās no muižas un stacijas ēkām nekas vairs nav saglabājies — palicis vien mežs un klusums. Taču tieši šajās vietās reizēm dzimst visneparastākie atklājumi.
Šis slēpnis atrodas netālu no ceļa, nomaļā vietā. Tas nav tūrisma objekts vai populārs galamērķis — drīzāk neliels izaicinājums uzmanīgajiem un ziņkārīgajiem.
Jo, kā mēdz teikt — reizēm interesantākais nav tur, kur visi skatās.

Sērene is one of those quiet corners of the Selonia region, where the breath of history can still be felt. In the 18th–19th centuries, the Vecsērene Manor stood here — once an important center of local life and economy. Later, in the early 20th century, a railway passed through the area, and a small train stop operated here on the route to Jaunjelgava.
Today, the manor and station buildings are long gone — only forest and silence remain. But it’s in places like these that the most unexpected discoveries sometimes appear.
This cache is located near a road, in a remote area. It’s not a tourist spot or popular destination — more like a small challenge for the observant and curious.
Because, as they say — sometimes the most interesting things aren’t where everyone is looking.
