Leis
Ein kleines, aber feines Dörfchen auf einer Sonnenterrasse oberhalb von Vals. Bestehend aus einem guten Dutzend Häuser und Ställen. Ganzjährig bewohnt, gehört es zur Gemeinde Vals und hat mehr drauf, als man auf den ersten Blick vermutet.
Neben traumhafter Aussicht gibt’s hier echte Hingucker:
Drei moderne Häuser und ein markant geformter Brunnen vom Stararchitekten Peter Zumthor, ein herziges Beizli und die Kapelle St. Jakob in Leis Fleiserchappeli, die aus der Zeit von 1600 bis 1610 stammt. Sie wurde, wie es sich für Wanderfreunde gehört – dem heiligen Jakob dem Älteren, dem Patron der Reisenden, gewidmet. Ausserdem und nicht zu vergessen, die alten, wunderbar erhaltenen Holzhäuser, die dem Ort seinen ganz besonderen Charme verleihen. Wie überall in Vals, sind auch hier alle Dächer mit Steinplatten gedeckt.
Zum Cache:
Ein kleiner Petling hat sich hier versteckt – zwar ganz in der Nähe eines Brunnens (aber nicht dem Brunnen vom Architekten), bleibt aber schön trocken.
Und jetzt gut aufgepasst:

👀 Stattdessen lohnt sich ein Blick nach oben, ja, wirklich nach oben!

Leis
A small but charming village perched on a sunny terrace above Vals. Consisting of about a dozen houses and barns. Inhabited year-round, it belongs to the municipality of Vals and has more to offer than one might expect at first glance.
Besides breathtaking views, there are some real highlights here:
Three modern houses and a strikingly shaped fountain by star architect Peter Zumthor, a cozy little eatery, and the Chapel of St. James in Leis Fleiserchappeli, which dates from around 1600 to 1610. As fitting for hiking enthusiasts, it is dedicated to St. James the Greater, the patron saint of travelers. Also not to forget the old, beautifully preserved wooden houses that give the village its very special charm. As everywhere in Vals, all roofs here are covered with stone slabs.
About the Cache:
A small PET tube is hidden here — quite close to a fountain (but not the architect’s fountain) — and it stays nice and dry.
Now pay close attention:
