Throughout much of the 20th century, Holland Lake remained a private lodge destination. In time, surrounding land was transferred through conservation efforts—including purchases by organizations like the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation—ensuring public access via Flathead National Forest lands and trails leading into the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
Today, Holland Lake offers year-round access for hiking, camping (40‑site campground), swimming, boating, and fly fishing—featuring species like kokanee salmon, cutthroat and rainbow trout, and bull trout. It remains notably less crowded than nearby lakes, offering tranquility amid stunning mountainous scenery.
