Geocache Description:

An excerpt from 'From The Scrapbook' by Rev Bill Randall, with some history of this spot:

"Kelly’s Island, now a peninsula, but back in the days when the outlet was dammed, it was an island and the site of the Dexter Company logging operations. In 1927 the Dexter’s built a beautiful log home, the fireplace of which is still standing completely erect, it was somewhat reinforced by Oromocto neighbors in 1947. The area of the Island called the Neck is a super picnicking spot with hundreds of yards of pure white sand. Why would anyone race to the beaches of Prince Edward Island when they can go to Kelly’s Island?"

While not technically an island as it is connected by a relatively thin strip of land, this little slice of paradise is a popular summer hangout spot due to its super sandy beach area in the cove on the north side, which stays sheltered from wind and waves elsewhere on the lake.  There is a nice area for camping, with picnic tables and even an outhouse being added recently.  Please leave the area clean and free from trash!

My son has been asking me to place a cache so this  one was made by him, and anything to get him enjoying the outdoors is good with me.  Marking this as a D4 as you will need a boat to access the area, but if you can get here it's like a walk on the beach!  If you're not familiar with this spot, use caution if coming in from the north side as there are a few rocky/shallow areas.
