The MD Block Party is coming, so - let's talk about Frederick!
It's a month out from the big event in MD (only Picky's second Block Party; Picky's third big event including GWXXI); wanted to warm up the caching muscles (brain?) with geo-buddies with some *unofficial* anticipatory events the week of *8*/20... Come to as many as you like/are available for. There will be small door prizes :)
Today, Friday afternoon, swing by the ducky lakeside plaza in the middle of South Lakes Shopping Center in Reston, VA to talk about Frederick, MD. Frederick is a great area for caching already. Which caches have you done around there that you really enjoyed? Which would you like to do? Are there any puzzles in that area that you need help with? How about places to eat that you liked or would avoid? Any non-caching activities or places you'd recommend to others? Any parking issues that others should know about?
Pop by or stay for the whole thing.
You can bring trackables to share but that isn't the main focus. Don't let them fall in ;)
Kids, SOs, friends, family, visitors, travelers, new cachers, and caching-curious muggle buddies are all welcome. Don't know us yet? You will soon enough. We'll be outside so leashed dogs can enjoy the view too (BYO water and snacks for them).
Tea, coffee, food, etc. are available around the shopping center - there are restaurants, a coffee chain, and a grocery store - but no purchase required. $ icon is just there as a reminder that there's an option. You are welcome to attend whether or not you buy anything. You can definitely BYO since we won't be in a particular establishment.

The central, lakeside plaza - the lower level or wherever the comfy chairs are (they move them sometimes). There are usually tables also.
Dress for the weather: might need a hat/sunscreen/umbrella. Or all of those. Could be just about any weather (other than snow - that would be highly unlikely). Duck(s) optional.
If it rains hard, we'll try for the outside deck at Cafésano adjacent to the plaza and Picky will go in and buy something.
With this lot, allow a few extra minutes to park. There are plenty of parking spots but the center gets busy and the lot is awkward and can be a bit nuts.
From the parking lot, walk toward the gap between shopping strips. There are stairs or a ramp down to the lake view. You may not be able to see the meeting spot from the lot, depending on where we gather.
No boats or swimming or wading actually required - unless someone falls in (please don't!) or if you live nearby and use your boat to meet up with us.
As usual, please don't attend if you have or have recently been exposed to COVID or the flu, etc., or if you're feeling sick in general. We'd rather see you when you're feeling well.
