Bring your own pen. Please be careful walking along the side of the road. Park 30 yards west on 15 in the llittle entrance there and stay on the side of the road behind the guard rail and you'll be fine. Wear long pants or socks as there are a few long grasses to trek through.
Captain Tom was no ordinary sailor.
He didn’t sail the seven seas.
He didn’t battle krakens or chart uncharted islands.
No, Captain Tom ruled over a far more local body of water: a humble creek running quietly beside the road.
From his inflatable speedboat (which he insisted was a “vessel of speed and valor”), he patrolled the ripples, saluted mallards, and shouted at passing joggers,
“Make way for the captain!”
But then, it happened.
A tsunami—unexplainable and very out of place—rose from the creek like Poseidon had tripped and spilled his bathwater.
With one enormous splash, Captain Tom and his boat were launched skyward, flipping, spinning, and ultimately landing somewhere unexpected…
Let’s just say he now oversees the waters from a much higher rank.
Some say if you listen closely near the road, you’ll hear the rustle of wind through nylon and the faint whisper of…
“Permission to re-enter the creek?”
