Het Eindhovens Kwartet is de oudste actieve serie geocaches in Eindhoven.
Loop vier multi's in vier verschillende hoeken van de stad en vind daarna de bonus.
The Eindhovens Kwartet is the oldest active series of geocaches in Eindhoven.
Find four multi caches in different corners of the city and then the bonus.

Eindhovens Kwartet Zuid-West is een wandeling van circa 4 kilometer in de omgeving van waterwingebied "Klotputten".
Eindhovens Kwartet Zuid-West is a walk of about 4 kilometers in the surroundings of water extraction area "Klotputten". For English translation click here, or scroll down.

  • De route loopt door grondwaterbeschermingsgebied “De Klotputten”, dat wordt beheerd door “Brabants Landschap”.
  • Aangelijnde honden mogen mee.
  • Het is niet nodig de paden te verlaten, tot vlak voor de cache.
  • Het kan drassig zijn. Hoge wandelschoenen zijn aan te raden (of hardloopschoenen om een flinke aanloop te nemen).

Op de startcoördinaten (N51 24.852 E005 26.978) kun je parkeren. Hier hoeft je verder niet te vinden.

AA = (het aantal brede planken (geasfalteerd) in de vloer van deze houten brug)
N.B. AA is een getal van 2 cijfers maar die hoeven niet alle twee hetzelfde te zijn!
De smallere plank van circa 10 centimeter breed telt niet mee.

Je staat nu bij een groot grasveld voor sporten en spellen en een speeltuin.
B = het aantal schommels in de speeltuin plus het totaal aantal bankjes rond het veld en de speeltuin.

In jaartal1 en later in jaartal2 is deze zandvang opnieuw opgeschoond.

Toen ik deze cache overnam dook ik in de geschiedenis van deze brug. Ik kwam er toen achter dat de brug die hier de Dommel kruist één van de weinige zichtbare restanten is van een spoorlijntje dat in de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd aangelegd naar het Eindhovense vliegveld Welschap. Het sloot aan op de rest van het sporennet bij Aalst, waar toen nog de spoorlijn van Eindhoven naar Valkenswaard en België liep. Deze foto is het voornaamste bewijs dat ik daarvoor vond. Aan de degelijke betonnen onderbouw en ijzeren zijpanelen kun je ook wel zien dat dit niet zomaar een bruggetje voor lokaal verkeer is


Je staat hier ook bij de start van het waterzuiveringsproces. Hier staat een aantal hekken in het water om het drijvende vuil tegen te houden. De automatische grijper verwijdert regelmatig het drijvende vuil dat zich bij de hekken heeft verzameld.

Hier staat een watermeetpunt van Brabant Water.
Aan de achterzijde, bij het scharnier, is een getal in het ijzer gestanst.
Het getal staat ondersteboven genoteerd en is kleiner dan 60.
H = het eerste cijfer van dit getal
I = Het tweede cijfer van dit getal
J = I - C

Hier staat een informatiepaneel.
K = het aantal planten dat hierop uitgelicht is.
L = het aantal dieren dat hierop uitgelicht is.
XXX jaar geleden was dit gebied een nat terrein.

Het is hier vrij druk met wandelaars. Neem daarom de cache mee naar het pad. Log en ruil daar en plaats de cache weer terug als de kust veilig is.

In het logboek van deze cache staat een aanwijzing voor de geocache Eindhovens Kwartet Compleet!

Deze cache is oorspronkelijk uitgezet door LouiSearcher. Nadat deze enkele malen verdwenen was heeft The Dutch Moose de cache in augustus 2007 herzien en gedaopteerd. Van februari 2009 tot de zomer van 2024 is de cache door de Multihunters onderhouden.


English description

  • The route runs through the groundwater protection area “De Klotputten”, which is managed by “Brabants Landschap”.
  • Leashed dogs are allowed.
  • It is not necessary to leave the paths, until just before the cache.
  • It can be swampy. High walking shoes are recommended (or running shoes to get a good run-up).

You can park at the starting coordinates (N51 24.852 E005 26.978). There is nothing else to find here.

N.B. AA is a 2-digit number, but the digits are not necessarily the same!
Do not count the smaller plank that is approximately 10 centimeters wide.

You are now standing at a large grass field for sports and games and a playground.
B = the number of swings in the playground plus the total number benches around the field and the playground.
C = the number of goals on the grass minus the number of goals on the pavement.

There is an information board here. There are two years in the beginning of the text, indicating the years when this sand trap (zandvang) has been cleaned up.

When I took over this cache, I dived into the history of this bridge. I then discovered that the bridge that crosses the Dommel here is one of the few visible remains of a railway line that was built during the Second World War to the Eindhoven airport Welschap. It connected to the rest of the rail network at Aalst, where the railway line from Eindhoven to Valkenswaard and Belgium still ran at the time. This photo is the main evidence I found for this. The solid concrete substructure and iron side panels also show that this is not just a bridge for local traffic


You are also standing here at the start of the water treatment process. There are a number of fences in the water to keep the floating dirt out. The automatic gripper regularly removes floating dirt that has collected at the fences.

It is quite busy with hikers here. So take the cache with you to the path. Log and trade there and put the cache back when the coast is clear.

This cache was originally created by LouiSearcher. After disappearing several times, The Dutch Moose revised and adopted the cache in August 2007. From February 2009 until the summer of 2024, the cache was maintained by the Multihunters.
