Geocache Description:

The Semiahmoo Spit cache is hidden along a beach trail on the west side of Semiahmoo Spit. The shortest way to GZ is by parking at the parking coordinates and following the public trail between the buildings on the west side of the road.

The name of the spit is from the Semiahmoo band of Native Americans and means "half-moon" or "water all around".

With Semiahmoo Bay and the Straight of Georgia on one side, the protected Drayton Harbor on the other, and views of Mount Baker and the Twin Sisters mountains in the distance, Semiahmoo Spit offers 360 degrees of the Pacific Northwest.

Semiahmoo Spit is a popular location for birdwatchers especially in the winter months and during the fall and spring migrations.

Note: The cache container is hidden at the same location as the (now archived) cache that we used for a temporary Geotour that we participated in last year.
