Amphibolites d'Hennebont
Les amphibolites massives d'Hennebont forment une enclave plurihectométrique au sein de l'orthogneiss d’Hennebont-Tréauray en rive orientale du Blavet, au cœur de la vieille ville. Ces amphibolites sont aussi en contact, sur leur flanc sud, avec des gneiss fins micacés eux-mêmes enclavés. Le principal affleurement des amphibolites est situé en bordure du chemin piétonnier longeant le Blavet, où leur foliation orientée au 130-140 est fortement pentée (70°) vers le Sud.
Ces roches à grain fin, gris-sombre, massives bien que foliées ont une texture némato-lépidoblastique et la foliation principale est soulignée par l'orientation des paillettes de biotite et des plages d'amphibole. Sa paragénèse est constituée de quartz (3 %), de feldspath plagioclase de type andésine (38 %), d'amphibole verte de type hornblende (42 %), de biotite (12 %), de sphène (3 %), d'épidote de type clinozoisite et accessoirement d'apatite.
Hennebont amphibolites
The massive amphibolites of Hennebont form a multi-hectometre enclave within the Hennebont-Tréauray orthogneiss on the eastern bank of the Blavet, in the heart of the old town. These amphibolites are also in contact, on their southern flank, with fine micaceous gneisses, which are themselves enclaved. The main outcrop of amphibolites is located along the footpath running alongside the Blavet, where their foliation, oriented at 130-140°, is steeply dipping (70°) towards the south.
These fine-grained, dark grey, massive yet foliated rocks have a nemato-lepidoblastic texture, and the main foliation is highlighted by the orientation of the biotite flakes and amphibole patches. Its paragenesis consists of quartz (3%), andesine-type plagioclase feldspar (38%), hornblende-type green amphibole (42%), biotite (12%), sphene (3%), clinozoisite-type epidote and, incidentally, apatite.
Leptynites d'Hennebont, à amphibole et biotite
Les leptynites forment à Hennebont, une étroite lanière orientée E-W d'extension plurikilométrique, qui, de part et d'autre du Blavet, est affectée par un décrochement dextre. Cette entité affleure principalement sur la rive orientale du Blavet au cœur du bourg d'Hennebont (notamment au croisement de l’avenue de la Libération et de la rue du Bourgneuf), où elle forme une mini-falaise.
La roche, très leucocrate (de couleur claire), a un grain fin, est finement foliée et est relativement massive. La foliation est soulignée par l'allongement de petites paillettes de biotite et de certaines plages de quartz. Sa paragénèse comprend du quartz (38 %), du feldspath potassique de type microcline (32 %), de l'albite-oligoclase (26 %), de la biotite (1 %), de l'amphibole altérée en chlorite, du sphène, des opaques et du zircon.
Leptynites of Hennebont, containing amphibole and biotite
The leptynites form a narrow strip in Hennebont, oriented E-W and extending for several kilometres, which, on either side of the Blavet, is affected by a dextral fault. This formation mainly outcrops on the eastern bank of the Blavet in the heart of the town of Hennebont (notably at the intersection of Avenue de la Libération and Rue du Bourgneuf), where it forms a mini cliff.
The rock, which is very leucocratic (light in colour), has a fine grain, is finely foliated and is relatively massive. The foliation is emphasised by the elongation of small biotite flakes and certain quartz bands. Its paragenesis includes quartz (38%), microcline-type potassium feldspar (32%), albite-oligoclase (26%), biotite (1%), chlorite-altered amphibole, sphene, opaques and zircon.
