Located minutes from Chattanooga, Booker T. Washington State Park is a hidden gem, offering the perfect blend of natural beauty and outdoor adventure. Nestled along the shores of Chickamauga Lake, the park provides opportunities to soak in the peaceful scenery while taking advantage of many activities such as fishing, swimming, mountain biking, or simply just packing a picnic and taking a leisurely walk on the trails.
This cache is hidden on the park’s new ADA trail, an easy .20 mile walk which concludes at a viewing platform overlooking the water. On a clear day, you can see cars traveling across the Chickamauga Dam in the distance. Be sure to pause at the platform after finding the geocache, and share a few photos in your log.
The ADA trail is part of the Access 2030 initiative, under the direction of Gov. Bill Lee, which aims to make Tennessee State Parks the most accessible in the country by 2030. The project aims to improve physical access within the parks for visitors with disabilities. At Booker T. Washington State Park, All-Terrain Wheelchairs are available upon request so visitors can explore this trail, and other great features of the park, which would otherwise be inaccessible with a standard wheelchair.
Important Information For This Geocache:
- 🎁 The geocache is a regular sized pelican case with a log, swag, and envelopes for visitors attending Deck the Firehalls. Please only take an envelope if you are planning to attend our Christmas event on December 7, 2025.
- ⏰ Park hours are 7am - 30 minutes before sunset. Plan your visit accordingly.
- 🚗 Please only park in designated parking spots. Refer to the parking coordinates on the additional waypoints. Do not park in the gravel closest to the trailhead as this is reserved for boat trailers.
- ⛵️ Do not attempt this cache from the water. Sail to the nearby boat dock, and then walk to the cache from the trailhead.
Enjoy your time at Booker T. Washington State Park. If you meet one of the park rangers, be sure to tell them hello, and thank them for supporting quality geocaching at the park. Happy caching!
