A virtual cache on Glenn's Creek in Woodford County. This cache should be done during daylight hours and while in your car. All answers to the confirming questions can be obtained while driving by the cache site. When you find the coordinates, you should be at a place we have always found fascinating, even though we couldn't go in and look around. UPDATE: This location has been renovated and has reopened as Castle and Key Distillery.
Some history behind the cache: Colonel Edmund H. Taylor, considered the second "father" of Bourbon Whiskey, built this distillery that is considered one of the most remarkable sights in the bourbon industry. The main building is made entirely of limestone blocks, and is in the form of a medieval castle, complete with turrets. A sketch of the castle appeared on the label of the product that was made here. Enclosed inside the castle were gardens and ornate rooms where Colonel Taylor used to entertain government officials and politicians. You can still see part of the elaborate grounds that have been restored outside to the left of the main building. The Colonel lobbied to have laws passed to ensure quality in his product, and was successful. He created what came to be known as the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. His son later defined what makes Straight Bourbon Whiskey. As a result of this Act, other federally enforced standards for food products were created, and we can say that many of our current food quality standards owe their existence to a gentleman with a distillery on Glenn's Creek. To log this cache, you must e-mail me the answers to 2 questions listed below. 1. What is the name on the main building? 2. How many water towers are at the cache site? 3. How many barrel chutes cross the roadway?
