Onomatopoeia is the use of words that imitate the sounds they describe. Essentially, it's language that sounds like what it means.
CRUNCH
HISS
MEOW
KRACKLE
POP
WOOSH
SQUEEK
AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. I was obsessed with these when I was young. Who am I kidding? I am still obsessed with them. In my opinion, they are even better than the ASMR videos out there but also the reason we like those. We want to hear the sounds. When you say "meow", do you sometimes “meow” it? Do you make a pop sound with your lips when you say pop? Remember the original Batman when violence could not be shown on TV so when the hero was about to open a can of whoop tail on the bad guy, instead of stage combat, the screen would be covered with a graphic and work for the action you did not see but your imagination could “hear it”. POW, BIFF, ZAP - to name a few.
These descriptive type words are a daily part of the geocaching experience. The crunch of gravel below your feet or the snap of twigs as you walk towards GZ. The buzz of your phone as you reach 30ft distance. The groan as you reach for the container and the giggle when you have it in hand. And BAM, you have a new smiley. No crouching needed for this eyelevel container. What onomatopoeia words did you think of for your find? Or do you have a favorite you would like to share?

Welcome to the back roads of Texas. Team Texas Ra Ra loves caching on country roads and so we decided to create a summer series for others to enjoy. This series has 26 total hides, one for each letter of the alphabet. You do not have to do them in order but this is the order we hid them in.
