WELCOME TO OUR ALPHABETIC ANGUS SERIES
This has been inspired by the A/Z series by Perth Pathfinders which took us to many nice places in Perthshire.
Alphabetic Angus will take you to lots of similarly nice places in our home county, and can be done in any order.
Angus is a lovely county stretching from the east coast to the high mountains in the Angus Glens. It was known as Forfarshire, with Forfar as the county town, until 1928 when Angus was adopted as the new county name.
GLAMIS
A very attractive village, famous for Glamis Castle, the church, thatched roofs, the Mercat Cross, St Fergus' Well and a Rural Museum. Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother was brought up at the Castle and Princess Margaret was born there, before George VI became King.
