Yes Man is a 2008 romantic comedy film based on a book by a British humorist, Danny Wallace. I have not read the book but the movie did make me think.
In the story: Bank loan officer Carl Allen becomes withdrawn after his divorce and develops an increasingly negative attitude. After attending a self-help seminar, he becomes a yes man, who says yes to EVERYTHING. This new outlook leads to ups and downs and eventually puts him in the hospital. Upon waking up, the inspirational guru tells Carl that the yes man attitude was just to increase positivity but he could still say no to things. Some of the adventures he encountered during his yes time have improved his outlook and he ends up finding happiness in the end.
It made me think. Could I say yes to everything? I think I wouldn’t last long. But it is fun to imagine what adventures it might lead to. Think about it for a week. When you have to decline someone, imagine what could have happened if you said yes.
