What it's About!
This event celebrates the 18th Anniversary of the SideTracked Series and 200 Years of Train Travel since 1825. The SideTracked series started at Evesham railway station on August 10 2007, when the first SideTracked cache was placed by schnarff & bikermel76.
Celebrate 200 Years of Railway History!
In 1825, the Stockton & Darlington Railway opened the world’s first passenger railway station on Tuesday 27th September — a milestone that transformed travel forever. Steam locomotives carried passengers and goods at unprecedented speed, sparking a transport revolution that connected towns, boosted industry, and shaped modern Britain.
This special SideTracked Railway 200 event at Newmarket is part of a nationwide celebration running from Wednesday 24th to Tuesday 30th September 2025. All finds and hides from this event count towards your SideTracked statistics, and a unique profile badge will be created especially for this event. This location is close to three stations – two disused and one still bustling today, and it’s part of a railway story that’s been 200 years in the making.
Where: Come and join us at The Stable, 65 High St, Newmarket, Suffolk CB8 8NA. There is plenty of parking fairly close by. The café is on the first floor and there are both stairs and a lift. There are three SideTracked caches to find in Newmarket (if you haven’t already found them):

When: Friday 26 September 2025, 11.00m – 1.00pm. We have arranged with the manager to have a few tables set aside once we have an idea of numbers, so let us know in your 'Will Attend' log how many will be coming.
Come and meet other local cachers for a hot drink (optional purchase), celebrate SideTracked Railway200 and chat about our geocaching hobby! Bring TB's for swapping or discovering (we'll have the usual couple of boxes handy) - and don't forget to 'drop them' on the event page using a 'Write Note' before you arrive. We will also bring our collection of SideTracked TB's for discovering.
Parking: There is plenty of parking fairly close by (behind Palace Street and at All Saints - see Parking 1 and Parking 2 marked on the map - usually about £1.00 for 2 hours).
