Geocache Description:

Located west of Nanton, Alberta, a bit of local western Alberta history and some pretty decent scenery awaits along the way. There will be an open-book test so pay attention to your research. It’s not hard, just time consuming. Will you be the weakest link at this “chain”?

The test:

1. What meridian is the Bar 11 Ranch west of?

2. What is the last digit in the number in the first line of the second paragraph of Walrond?

3. What is the last digit of the last sentence of the ranch that Francis and his family took over?

4. Find “Toots.” What is the last digit of the year that Toots bought the ranch?

5. The “midshipman” crossed two countries. How many letters are there in one of the country’s names?

6. How many sections of land make up the ranch owned by Dixon family?

7. What is the last digit of the year when Augustus and his sons acquired homesteads on Sharples Creek?

8. What number is associated with the ranch that had both a squatter and a mailman?

9. How many miles is Dick's homestead down the south for of Willow Creek?

10. How many letters are there in the last name of one of Alberta’s “largest and most successful grazing” operations today?

11. How many letters in the name of the brothers that Dr. McEachran bought horses from?

12. What is the most common number repeated in line three of the plaque that involves wolf hunters?

13. What is the sum of the last two digits of the year when Dick finally sold his homestead? (check the typo on the plaque)

For coordinates to the final cache: Place your answers for questions 1 through 7 in the order of the questions. These should give you the north latitude. A little logic should get you the right format. Place your answers for question 8 through 13 in sequence as well. These should give you the west longitude. Again, use the logical format. You're looking for a cache-in-a-can. Happy hunting. PS: Fishing, both summer and winter will yield a bunch of small trout.
