Tuesday 30 September 2025 - 1830-2000
(people will probably stay later!)
Welcome to the regular monthly Pint Amongst Friends Event, this month celebrating the 200th anniversary of the railways.
This event will take place at our regular venue, the Spread Eagle in Croydon. The pub is just a few minutes' walk from both East and West Croydon railway stations, and various bus routes and the Croydon Tramlink pass close by, so getting here by public transport is pretty easy. Parking may be less straightforward in this area.
Food is available at the venue throughout the period of the event, from a menu featuring traditional British pub fare.
The 'Pint Amongst Friends' event takes place monthly, usually towards the end of the month and on a Tuesday. Everyone is welcome, so come along for a relaxed chat over a drink and/or food. If this is your first event I know walking around a pub looking for people you don't know can seem a little daunting. If this is the case please let me know in advance and a friendly face can meet you outside.
Celebrate 200 Years of Railway History!
In 1825, the Stockton & Darlington Railway opened the world’s first passenger railway station on Tuesday 27th September — a milestone that transformed travel forever. Steam locomotives carried passengers and goods at unprecedented speed, sparking a transport revolution that connected towns, boosted industry, and shaped modern Britain.
This special SideTracked Railway 200 event not too far from George Street tram stop is part of a nationwide celebration running from Wednesday 24th to Tuesday 30th September 2025. All finds and hides from this event count towards your SideTracked statistics, and a unique profile badge will be created especially for this event. Whether your chosen location is old, disused, miniature, or still bustling today, it’s part of a railway story that’s been 200 years in the making.
