The Jasmer Challenge is one of the most iconic challenges in all of Geocaching. It requires you to find a cache hidden in each and every month of Geocaching's history, from May 2000 to the current month. It brings you though the entire history of our game, and it's a challenge that grows over time. But after you finish Jasmer, you might be wondering what's next for this foundational challenge. What then, is the next step?

The Jasmer Challenge represents our history, and our history is one of humanity forever climbing upwards. We climb the tree of knowledge, invent ever-achieving technologies, and build skyscrapers that keep reaching higher. Likewise, in Geocaching, our game continuously grows over time, with more and more caches being hidden each year. And it's in celebrating that growth that we choose to climb upwards, and why we choose to climb the Jasmer Staircase.

Whereas the Jasmer Challenge requires you to find one cache hidden in each month, the Jasmer Staircase Challenge increases that requirement with each year, such that the number of caches you must find in each is equal to its year, minus 2000. A Staircased Jasmer grid looks like this:

In order to complete this challenge, you must have 10 consecutive years of a Staircased Jasmer grid.

Which strategy do you take? Do you go for the old caches, where you have to find the fewest but they're much more rare? Or do you go for the new caches, where they're much more abundant but you have to find more of them?

Some notes:

-You can use any 10 years, but they must be consecutive. You don't want to climb a staircase that's missing steps!

-You must use exactly 10 full calendar years. I.e. your qualifying months will be from January 2xxx through December 2xxx+9. Anything else would make the staircase wobbly!

-Year 2000 Rule: The one exception to the above rule is the year 2000. Despite starting in May, the year 2000 counts as a full year. May 2000 through December 2009 is a qualifying staircase. And no, you do not credit for finding 0 in the months of 2000. 1 is required.

As time goes on, may we not only go forward, but may we go upward. May we keep building a beautiful future. And may we never stop climbing the Jasmer Staircase.

Cache is a log only micro at the waypoint below.

Note: While Geocaching guidelines do allow anyone to sign the log before they qualify to later claim the find when they do, I would kindly ask that the FTF be taken by someone who qualifies.

Similarly, I would also ask that Write Note be used only for those who have signed the log but not yet completed the challenge.
