Geocache Description:

Letchworth: Baby Bear Hollow to FLT at Night

Baby Bear:  MOMMA!  That's such a LONG walk to your cache!  Can't we make it shorter?

Momma Bear:  Now, my Baby.  Long walks build strong muscles!  Don't you wanna be big and strong?

Baby Bear: Yes.  But my paws get sore.  Can't we make it shorter?

Momma Bear:  How about if we place a cache of yours along the way?

Baby Bear: YES!

A couple of important notes:

1:  Even though you are on the east side of Letchworth, the park hours are still 6 AM - 11 PM.  Therefore, please leave 1.5 hours to complete this cache and don't start this night cache after 8 PM.

2.  You will be traveling less than a mile across rugged terrain, crossing ravines and traveling alonside ravines along well established trails for most of the trek.  If you physically have trouble with the first crossing, please be smart and turn around back to your vehicle.

3.  Please use the buddy system and bring along an extra headlamp or flashlight.

4.  I have Verizon for my carrier.  I received and sent text messages, phone calls, and emails while placing this cache.  Hopefully, other carriers will fare well, too.

5.  There were not a lot of trees to use for the first part of the trail, down Bear Hollow.  The first tack is on the first paint-marked tree just past the entrance.  I tried to place the next tack in sight of the last one.  Most tacks are placed about 8 feet high, while others were place higher.  However, trails are well-marked by paint.

6.  Two stealth tacks close together signify a trail turn.  Somewhere AFTER you turn off of Bear Hollow onto FLT, but BEFORE you see the painted smiley face, you will see a triangular tack which marks the final for this cache.  (Most likely ONLY seen on way to regular sized cache.) Please replace cache as you found it (which should be well hidden.)

7.  Along the way, you may see some white color tacks.  Ignore them, as they do not belong to this cache.

Unless the weather prohibits cachers, FTF will be made up of those cachers who stay until dinner time at the Letchworth Fall Gathering on Sat 10/4/2025.

Thanks to Doug Kelly for allowing this night cache - permit # LSP-127, expiration 8/24/2027.
