4/29/17 Found a more suitable location closer to the original, thanks to a small up and coming Coast Live Oak. As a good rule of thumb, it is recommended that you always carry a carabiner, or some other device to attach to the branch that you are removing the cache from. That assures that the cache ends up where it belongs! Thanks qbee37 for that great tip!
2/14/11 Extra special thanks to ckrt26s for going waaaaay above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks for helping to keep this alive!
Update 7/14/07. A lot has happened here since I placed this cache almost five years ago. Then, it was a large sign that seemed 100 years old, as I remember it from way back as a kid. It then had a lot of shrubery behind it, which made a nice spot for placing a cache. Then, in 2005, it fell victim to a fire, but the foundation, the shrubs, and the cache, all survived. I had even driven by it a few times, with what was left of the burned up sign. Until a recent no find, I thought all was well. So today I came to check on it, armed with a new cache. Sure enough, it was gone, but so were the shrubs that had concealed it. I didn't want to archive this since it still gets a lot of traffic, but the next closet place to hide it was about 150' away. So you are now looking for a small camo container at ground level, near the oak tree behind the sign. View the gallery to see what once was. Parking is the same at the sign but, stay behind the guard rail, and walk towards the oak. In May 2007, Patrick Promen from troop 605, took on the job of re-constucting the sign as his eagle scout project. While it will never be what it was, I would like to thank Patrick, and ALL that were involved with the resurection of a landmark.
