Geocache Description:

223 Mondovi Drive, Oswego

4:30-8:00 or WHENEVER!

Some background... Ans lived in the Netherlands, and was introduced to geocaching by Claus (White Dane) at a wedding dinner in Denmark, way back in 2008. Ans immediately bought a GPS, was geocaching with it the next day, and the rest is history.

Soon she started making annual trips to the area. Chicago quickly became her favorite city in the world, and she became a legitimate local celebrity, even appearing on Jonathan Brandmeier's show. Ans stayed with us on most of her trips, and we still think of the guest bedroom as hers. Unfortunately, her last visit was in 2019, and after that, Covid, family matters and personal matters prevented another visit. Ans was recently diagnosed with a rare and uncurable disease, and she passed away on August 15.

Please come and join the celebration of the life of Ans Wouters, "Dutchlandian". So many local geocachers had the incredible pleasure of sharing time with Ans over the years. Carol and I have dozens and dozens of stories to tell and experiences to recall, and we know there are countless other stories out there for everyone to hear!!

We plan on having a really big board set up for posting pictures and memories. We'd love to see your pictures and written memories on the board, and we'd LOVE to see it filled up! Don't hesitate to bring anything you'd like to share! We'll be sending event pictures to her family in the Netherlands, and they're already very eager to see them.

This will be a potluck style event, so please bring a dish to pass if you'd like. We're not going to do a whole lot of cooking for a change, so show off with your favorite dish! The event will not end at the posted time, and we do love to have people stay late, so feel free to stick around!

Ans gave me this framed picture many years ago. I've cherished it since day one, and it's been hanging on our office wall for all these years. Lord, I've gotten her to do some crazy things!
