Geocache Description:

Virtual Cache on Assateague Island, National Wildlife Refuge

The Assateague Lighthouse was built in 1867 and is currently maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. This 142-foot high lighthouse is one of nearly 20 other tall historic brick lighthouses still functioning along the Atlantic coast today. Take some time to tour the island, there are many sites to experience. Be on the lookout for the herds of Wild Ponies which roam this island (please be careful, they are WILD).

To log this cache email me with the the answers to the following questions. Please don't post your answers in the logs even if encrypted (those entries will be removed).

1. When was the first Lighthouse built on this site? and by whom? (this make take some discovery, not all answers are visible, talk to Refuge Volunteers/Personnel)..
2. What is written on the plaque directly over the main door?
3. There is a tiny stone memorial enscribed with a poem near the Lighthouse. Who was the author? and who is the memorial dedicated to? (If the stone memorial is unavailable, locate the memorial bench in the vicinity and answer Who is the bench in memory of?)

Have fun!!!

Dont like to do this, however, there have been several logs lately which have not sent the necessary answers to the questions. Your (found)log will be removed within two weeks if answers are not provided via email.
