While out exploring some local history, we realized Oakland Cemetery didn’t have any caches—and we thought it deserved one! As we walked the grounds, we noticed several friendly dogs roaming with their owners. That reminded Marleyj19, my co-cacher, of her beloved basset hound, Mandy "Roo", who recently passed away.
So, in honor of Mandy Roo the Basset, we’ve placed this letterbox hybrid here. Please enjoy the search, and take a quiet moment to appreciate the history around you.
Important: This is a letterbox cache, so please do not remove the stamp, it’s meant to stay inside the container for all finders to use.
Hide exactly as it was found to prevent muggling. Thanks!
Happy caching!
The cache is located at the posted coordinates, but for those who prefer traditional letterboxing-style instructions, follow these steps:
Begin at the Oakland Cemetery archway and turn left just before entering through it. Continue straight, passing two roads on your left, then stop. On your left, you’ll see a beautiful cross-shaped headstone marked “ENCINAS.” To your right, there’s a fence with trees behind it. The box is hidden within those trees, but you’ll need to approach it from the opposite side.
