The Geocache container you seek might be considered to be a companion Cache similar to Southern Shores (GCB8NB1) which is located about a mile south near Town Hall. This host is large enough for a few small trade items and has been placed with permission out in the open near the intersection of NC-12 and Ocean Boulevard.
This container is accessible all hours and year round. Parking coordinates are provided although space is limited to about three vehicles. If you don't see any room to park it might be best to circle around or just come back much later because this can be a busy place and some locals get a little upset with visitors taking their parking spaces. The Town Manager has authorized me to say you can park here for a few minutes but you must not linger too long. Actually, if it takes you longer than my wife's 10 minute limit to locate and log this container you may want to consider some other less demanding hobby. There is a larger parking lot nearby, but that property is a private homeowner association lot and a parking permit is required to avoid being towed.
The container is not on the Southern Shores sign, so no need to be in or disturb the flower bed or any bushes. If you're looking in the tree you probably walked past it.
Your search will put you in full view of drivers on NC-12 as they head north to Duck and Corolla. You will also be seen by anyone traveling along Ocean Boulevard to the east which parallels the Atlantic Ocean for about a mile north.
This family friendly cache should help boost your numbers and is large enough for some small trade items. The ground should be hard enough to allow anyone in a wheelchair access, although it might be a little bit of a stretch. The log is in a pill bottle inside a larger host. Please make sure the lid is closed securely and latched to help keep unwanted moisture out.
