Geocache Description:

Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque (known as Iron Mosque)

One of the most interesting sights in Putrajaya is when the metal dome of the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque sparkles with hues of gold from the sunlight. A popular stopover for visitors, the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque is the second main mosque in Putrajaya, after the Putrajaya Mosque. The Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque is designed to accommodate 24,000 worshippers.  Built next to Putrajaya Lake, the building, dubbed the Iron Mosque. Highlights the presence and strength of Islam and the official religion of Malaysia. Thus, the concept of iron was also inspired by the design of the Mosque of Rome (Moschea in Rome), in Parioli, Rome. The path leading to the mosque, known as Qibla Walk, is adapted from the ancient palace of Alhambra. The walls of the mihrab are made of 13-meter-high glass panels with two verses from Surah Al-Baqarah on the right and Surah Ibrahim on the left written on it.
