Lundgaard Park is located next to Fire Station #6 on the corner of Lightning Drive and Ashbury Drive. Construction began in September of 2023 and the firefighter-themed playground, pickleball courts, and basketball court opened in the summer of 2024. Restrooms and a pavilion are planned for future expansion in the coming years. The park was named for Mitch Lundgaard, a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department, who was killed while responding to a medical call at the Valley Transit Center in May of 2019. Mitch’s family helped with the design of the park.
