This is what an estimated 1.9 Billion people heard on the 13th July 1985 as they tuned in to watch what at the time was an unprecedented dual concert, made possible by modern technology and 13 military satellites. 75 acts played over the 2 gigs with 72.000 people watching at Wembley and 90,000 at the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. Phil Collins managed to play at both concerts, getting on Concorde after performing at Wembley to fly to America. The concerts raised £40 million pound on the daywhic was used to provide relief of hunger and poverty in Ethiopia.
