The Dunn House, located in Greenwood, Louisiana, is a historic plantation house built around 1858 by John B. Dunn, a notable planter and politician. This two-story Greek Revival style mansion features four large columns on its facade, and a hipped roof with a cupola. The interior boasts high ceilings, hardwood floors, and intricate moldings, making it a significant example of antebellum architecture in Louisiana.

Historical Significance

The Dunn House has a rich history, particularly during the Civil War. It served as a hospital for Confederate soldiers wounded in the Battle of Mansfield in April 1864. Tragically, several soldiers who died from their injuries are buried on the grounds. After the war, the house was occupied by Union troops and later underwent restoration in the early 20th century, preserving its historical integrity.
