Welcome to the Death Valley, the lowest elevation point in the US.
A geocaching event was going to be at Badwater Basin now at Harmony Borax Works at 2.30pm to 3pm, Sunday, October 19, 2025
Due to recent floodings the location for the event has changed from Badwater Basin to the Harmony Borax Works, further up the Death Valley. This is due to the Badwater Road being shut for repairs and unlikely to be reopened in time. Not as deep in elevation but still well below sea level.
All are invited to the event in Death Valley to chat about all things geocaching at 282 now 246 feet below sea level - no other cachers in the whole of North America can scoop lower than us on the day. Having hosted an event at Salton Sea (minus 236 feet) it's only fitting that I should go lower with an event in the Death Valley.
Prepare for very hot temperatures and bright sunlight, please protect yourselves at this exposed outdoor event - we want everyone to get out the Death Valley alive! Thankfully, we will be only be a stone throw away from the parking lot.
