I saw this on Reddit and was sad:

The good news is that they got lots of comments immediately telling them to just bite the bullet and go to an event! I felt the same way when I started caching earlier this year, but some Eagle River friends reached out and met me for coffee, gave me the lay of the land, and made sure I knew which events they were going to so that I would know someone there. Geocaching events don't have to be scary!
BUT, if you're still not excited to go a formal event, here is the easy, low-stress one for you:
Stop by Birkenstock Report's front porch on the 25th of September anytime from 4-7 pm to celebrate 25 years of Geocaching!
There will be "25" themed treats, an event log to sign, some photo props in case you haven't logged your locationless cache for the year yet, and some other fun surprises. Best of all, I'll be around but there is no synchronous activity, so you can stop by anytime you like, choose to say hi or just do a head nod, participate in what you like, and irish goodbye your way out of there as soon as you're ready!
Even if you're NOT afraid of events, I'd love to see you stop by and pick up a treat. I will also have my high end camera out, so if you want some awkward family portraits, a backdrop will be set up for both your locationless photo and anything else you need to celebrate. Need Christmas card photos? Bring your Santa hats. Need engagement photos? I got chu. Need a photo with your pet? Just make sure they are camera-ready! Need a professional headshot for work? Can't help you there, but I can totally help you with a new profile pic for your geocaching account!
