Geocache Description:

This is the 112th in a series of caches that are placed within sight of that Great British establishment, the pub.

Located in the coastal village of Caister-on-Sea, this cache is within view of a long-standing public house that has been a local landmark for generations. The building is believed to date back to the early 19th century, though its exact origins are difficult to pinpoint. Over the years, it has seen the village grow from a quiet fishing settlement into a popular holiday destination.

Caister-on-Sea itself has a fascinating history, including its roots as a Roman fort and settlement — the remains of which can still be visited nearby. The village played an important role during both world wars, and its lifeboat station, one of the oldest in the country, has a proud tradition of bravery and service.

The cache location provides a good vantage point to take in the character of the village and spot the traditional architecture of the nearby public house. While you're here, you may also be interested to know that the very first Village Sign (VS) virtual cache can be reached just across the road. Please take care when crossing, especially during busy periods.

Bring your own pen. Stealth may be required depending on the time of day.
