It's time for our annual wetland extravaganza! This year we'll be on a new site - Holbrook Heath. It's an abondoned industrial site that has been taken over by nature and has lots of natural interest now. As usual we'll be clearing some of the vegetation out of the ponds to keep a balance of open water and a mix of species. Hopefully at some point large herbivores will be doing this work, but for now crazy geocachers can do the job!
I've been asked to do a T4 CITO for grid filling reasons (which suits me too!) but the task will be similar to other years. If you have waders and are happy to get in the pond, then please bring them. If you prefer wellies and staying at the edge that's fine too. Any help is welcome - you don't need to stay for the whole session, but if you're arriving late you may need help getting to the event as it's a bit away from paths. I'll meet at the waypoint at 10.00 to make it a bit easier. If you come after please give me a call - my work number is 07713158616.
The parking area is a five minute walk away, but it's a nice path. You can park on roads a bit closer, but they tend to be busy so I wouldn't recomment it. I have a small supply of waders and wellies if anybody wants to borrow them. I'll also bring waterproof gloves, safety equipment, hand washing equipment and refreshments.
The site is about half a mile from Halfway tram stop.
