Geocache Description:

This geocache is placed in memory of Oscar Askoff, a Korean War veteran who rests here. Please be respectful when visiting — this is sacred ground, and the cache is not hidden on or in any gravestone. You may only access the cemetery from Dawn to Dusk.

Your journey begins by locating Oscar’s marker. Once you find it, take a moment to reflect on his service and the sacrifices of all veterans. Then, follow the clue below to find the cache. I saw this gravesite and it caught my eye because my grandpa also served in the Korean War & passed in 2023. In researching a little about Oscar, his family immigrated to the US from Yugoslavia through Ellis Island.

The cache is not hidden on any grave. To find it, first locate Oscar Askoff’s gravestone. Look outside the fence. The cache is hidden there. The container is a small glass jar.  Inside you’ll find a logbook and a few small trade items. Please re-hide it just as you found it to keep it from being discovered by “muggles.”

When you log your find, feel free to share a note of gratitude for veterans, or a story about someone you know who served. This helps keep the memory alive.  Take a moment to reflect on the sacrifice of those who served before you leave.

Fun little Ceremonial popper for the FTF.  Congrats to wolfgeohunter for the FTF!
