Geocache Description:

This is the 11th cache in the series started by PoppieBear27 to provide an interactive historical tour of Westchester for their centennial anniversary. This cache highlights every Westchester kid's favorite place to go during the winter months which is Grant Hill for sledding, named after the Grant Lumber business next door.

Post: Anyone Who has Ever Lived in Westcheser:

"The closest hill was unofficially Grant Lumber Hill or Grant Hill because Grant Lumber was a business, next to the hill, at the south end of Gardener Rd. at Cermak Rd. (22nd St.) It had a long gradual slope on the north side of the hill that was good for the younger sledders and steeper slopes on the south and west sides. The western slope was steeper and also had trees, boulders and other obstacles that you had to weave your way past and there were often fences there to try to keep us using it.”

Same Post: Circa. 1970s
