Wow, My Favorite Things ....
There are a lot of things I enjoy doing ... of course caching and driving around in my jeep ...
But my go to lately has to be working on Sudoku variants. A sudoku variant is just a standard puzzle with some additional rules added. The way they are created allows you to solve a unique puzzle with no given digits.
The basic rules of sudoku apply, digits 1-9 in each row, comumn and box but there are additional rules added that make it more of a challenge. A couple of those are included in the attached puzzle. I have tried to help a bit by using a modified grid where it only uses the numbers 1-6 and each box is 2x3 in size. The overall grid becomes 6x6. As in a standard puzzle, the 6x6 required the numbers 1-6 each once in every column, row, and box.
I hope you enjoy the challenge and don't find it too difficult.
1. Rules
Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply within each of the four grids. Digits in overlapping areas must obey sudoku rules for grids.
ARROW: digits along arrows sum to the value in the attached circle.
THERMO: Digits along thermometers must increase starting from the round bulb.
CONSECUTIVE PAIRS: digits separated by a white dot are consecutive. Not all possible dots are necessarily given.
2. Puzzle
Upon solving the puzzle, provide the numbers inside the various circles in order top to bottom and left to right like reading a book. There should be a total of 11 digits needed for a correct solution.
You can validate your puzzle solution with
certitude.
This cache is part of the Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization's '25 Fall Series, Our Favorite Things. The goal of the series is to get to know some of our geocaching friends a little better by finding caches that showcase their favorite things—aside from geocaching, of course.
