Who: You!
What: CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out. It’s the geocacher’s approach to keeping our game board (i.e. the entire planet) in great shape. Geocachers gather together to pick up trash, remove invasive species, repair trails and more! Each CITO we attend is a testament to care: care for others, our communities, and our planet.
Where: Lake Fairfax, 1400 Lake Fairfax Dr, Reston, VA 20190
When: 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
The CITO will begin at 2:30 pm up the hill at the Skate Park/sports fields. But we’re not limited to this space: The park manager has welcomed us to pick up trash along the trails anywhere in the park. And there are rumors of new caches…
We’ll try to have a group photo around 3:30 pm, but you’re also welcome to sign “Dora” our beloved mascot, found herself at a CITO, and take some selfies throughout the event.
What should you bring? We mainly need you! Bags and buckets for the clean up will be provided, as well as gloves. You may get dirty, so dress appropriately, and wear good footwear. The wood lines may have thorns and some poison ivy. It's recommended you bring a grabber. Cachers of all abilities are welcome – in addition to trails, there are lots of paved areas to tidy up as well.
