About Beech Hill
Welcome to Beech Hill. a scenic network of moderate trails through forests, meadows, and rocky ridges, forming a 2.5–3 mile loop with views of Mount Monadnock, Dublin Lake, and surrounding peaks. Access is available from trailheads on Beech Hill Road (Zig Zag Trail), Old Marlborough Road (Lorna’s Trail), and Dublin Cemetery (Lake Trail). A trail map is included for reference to help navigate the network
Beech Hill has been purchased, restored, and conserved since 2007 by the Beech Hill Dublin Lake Watershed Association, a non-profit dedicated to protecting the Dublin Lake watershed and making the area’s natural beauty accessible to all. Donors and volunteers have made this possible, with the Monadnock Conservancy holding and maintaining BHDLWA’s conservation easements.
The Trail System
Zig Zag Trail: The main ascent from Beech Hill Road, climbing steadily in switchbacks through hardwood forest. Blue blazes mark the way, leading to an open meadow near the cell tower. Moderate grades with some rocky sections.
Meadow Trail: A gentle connector through a sunlit meadow. Seasonal wildflowers and wide views make this an open, relaxing stretch between the ridge and lower trails.
Carriage Road Trail: A broad, gentle forest road with little elevation change. Connects the lower trails to the Ridge Trail and links with Lorna’s Trail.
Lorna’s Trail: Flat and shaded, beginning at Old Marlborough Road. An easy entry point that joins the Carriage Road Trail.
Lake Trail: Beginning near Dublin Cemetery, this quieter approach climbs gradually through mixed woods to connect with Carriage Road. Offers seasonal glimpses of Dublin Lake.
Ridge Trail: Following the upper ridgeline, this trail links the main viewpoints and provides the best scenic overlooks. Rocky footing and moderate difficulty.
