Finding a dark site for astronomy is getting more difficult. Cities and even small towns light up the sky for miles. The International Dark Sky Association have an online map for finding dark skys, but you still have to find a clear field, this is one.
The real treasure is being out here after dark on a clear mooonless night and looking up.
Try sometime in the week before a new moon.
If you look at night be sure to use a red flashlight so you don't spoil your night vision.
