地下社會（1996-2013），台灣重要獨立搖滾音樂場景。
90年代，台灣組樂團的風氣興盛，Live Pub如雨後春筍般在台北街頭出現。
由於附近有師範大學與台灣大學、也有需多外國交換生，師大商圈誕生了許多異國風情的商家與文青小店。
1996年8月，地下社會在這樣的時空背景創立於師大路，草創時期的地社原是學運份子、女同志出沒的酒吧，在因緣際會之下接收了其他livehouse的器材，成為了一個可容納約百人的表演場地。
UNDERWORLD (1996-2013), A key venue in Taiwan's indie rock scene.
In the 90s, the trend of forming bands was flourishing in Taiwan, and live music pubs began to pop up all over Taipei.
Due to its proximity to National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan University, as well as a large number of foreign exchange students, the Shida shopping district became home to a variety of shops with a foreign flair and artsy cafes.
In August 1996, Underworld was founded on Shida Road. In its early days, it was a bar frequented by student activists and lesbians.
By a twist of fate, it acquired equipment from another live house and became a performance venue that could hold around 100 people.

因為鼓勵創作且對音樂類型的包容度極大，地社孕育了許多紅透半邊天的台灣樂團，同時也成為一個邊緣人的容身之所。
除了一旁夜市擴散的人潮，每當地社表演結束，消費不起酒吧的學生、樂迷和窮鬼樂手們便帶著便利商店買的酒精飲料聚集在對面的師大公園續攤、斯混到天亮；
這個匯聚著文青、搖滾客、酒客、外國人、街友、流動攤販的次文化聚集場所於是成型。
Due to its encouragement of original work and its great tolerance for various music genres, Underworld nurtured many Taiwanese bands that went on to become hugely popular, while also serving as a gathering place for outsiders.
In addition to the spillover crowds from the nearby night market, whenever a gig at Underworld ended, students, music fans, and broke musicians who couldn't afford bar prices would gather in the opposite Shida Park with convenience store alcohol to continue their party and hang out until dawn.
This important hub of subculture, which brought together hipsters, rockers, drinkers, foreigners, homeless people, and street vendors, thus took shape.

2012 年，部分附近居民再也難忍夜市與公園的喧嘩髒亂，組成師大三里里民自救會，要求台北市市政府落實土地使用分區管制自治條例及相關規定之執行。
雖然在被二度開罰改善後能勉強合規，面對自救會對於房東的針對，地下社會仍不得不在 2013 年宣告歇業；
同一時間，師大夜市許多商家也因為商業使用法規的限制紛紛關門，商圈就此沒落。
2015年師大公園改建，原有的階梯、舞台、涼亭拆除改為人群難以及聚集的磚道、長椅，原本的社群地景於是消亡。
In 2012, some nearby residents, unable to tolerate the noise and messy from the night market and the park, formed a self-help association and demanded that the Taipei City government enforce land-use zoning and related regulations.
Although Underworld was barely able to comply with the law after being fined and ordered to improve twice, the association began targeting the landlord, and the venue was forced to close in 2013.
At the same time, many other shops and restaurant in the Shida Night Market also closed due to commercial use regulations.
The entire district therefore subsequently declined.
In 2015, Shida Park was renovated. The original stairs, small stage and pavilions were replaced with brick paths and benches that made it difficult for crowds to gather. This social landscape disappeared from then on.
