In 2020, due to the impact of the pandemic, I was confined to my home for a full six months. Stifled by the monotony, I finally decided to step outside for some fresh air. That was when I traveled to Hangzhou for the first time — and ended up staying an entire month. Back then, I lodged in a guesthouse within the Hangzhou YMCA, which became the very starting point of my encounter with this city.
Five years have passed in the blink of an eye. When I returned to seek it out again, I discovered that the guesthouse had long been demolished, and the YMCA no longer opened its doors to the public. Standing on Youth Road, gazing at that once-familiar building, I felt as though another lifetime had passed. Only the echoes of memory remained, lingering quietly in the wind.
