Rouge Booth Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-Rusty-: Greetings,

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. We feel that this cache has been disabled for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable for the area, and thus I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Thank you,

Rusty...

Geocache Description:

Altitude 750ft. Averaged waypoint for 30 min, EPE 7ft. Terrain is mostly along a wood-chipped trail, except for a trickier short muddy portion of trail, and possible small creek crossing during wet weather; Otherwise terrain is 1.5. Rarely, heavy rain may make cache inaccessible. Container is classic medium-size Geocache Brown[tm] surplus metal box (12" x 6" x 7.5") with "official" green geocache sticker on side. Cache tethered, unclip when retrieving.

This is a pleasantly rugged strip very close to an urban area. Nice playground for the kids (currently under reconstruction). Trailhead is at N42° 32.942 W83° 13.084. It might be necessary to assist small children though tough bit: for perhaps 7 feet, the trail degrades into a hard clay ledge 12 inches wide, about 1 yard above the river. This is followed immediately by a spring-fed muddy strip bridged with sticks and a board.

During peak rainy times, cache area becomes an island; adjust terrain up as appropriate. Approach from North for shallowest wading. Area is a flood plain, so cache is tethered with a small chain and carabineer; unclip to retrieve, and please remember to re-clip when done!

There is some poison ivy, mostly in the vine form on trees, but none apparent in immediate cache vicinity. Also some on the creepy manhole covers, which always remind me of the entrance to Pennywise's lair as described in Stephen King's novel _It_.

I recommend the meterless on-street parking near N42° 33.037 W83° 13.094, about .27 miles from the cache location. Failing that, you can avoid feeding the meters on Old Woodward by parking in the structure at N42° 32.907 W83° 12.989 free for first 2 hours. But note that structure is ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE RIVER so you need to walk down the hill on Old Woodward and cross the Rouge just before entering park.

PS No, sadly, we don't live in any of those expensive houses that back up to the ravine.
