Celebrate 200 Years of Railway History!
In 1825, the Stockton & Darlington Railway (in County Durham, England) opened the world’s first passenger railway station on Tuesday, 27th September — a milestone that transformed travel forever. Steam locomotives carried passengers and goods at unprecedented speed, sparking a transport revolution that connected towns, boosted industry, and shaped modern Britain, and later the United States, and the world!
This special SideTracked Railway 200 event at Hillsboro is an extension of the United Kingdom Railway200/SideTracked Geocaching celebration taking place from Wednesday, 24th to Tuesday, 30th September 2025. All finds and hides from this event count towards your SideTracked statistics, and a unique profile badge will be created especially for this event. Whether your chosen location is old, disused, miniature, or still bustling today, it’s part of a railway story that’s been 200 years in the making.
This event is located one block south of the MAX Downtown Hillsboro Station, which is situated at the same site as the original Oregon Electric Railway Hillsboro Station, which opened in 1908. I highly recommend taking MAX to this event, as parking around the venue can be a challenge at times. This is a workday lunch event. So come out and enjoy some lunch while chatting about geocaching. There might even be some rail-related surprises.
Please mark your Will Attend, I did make a reservation for 25, but I can always request more if needed.
